This just in: "The Net hits U.S. elevators." Apparently a firm called Captivate Network Inc. has determined (based on market research, no doubt) that people feel their time in an elevator is wasted. Result: little 10-inch screens, supplied by Captivate, that "continually flash brief news blurbs, weather, traffic, and sports." What a revolting development -- and shame on the "15 sites where the firm currently has installations" for buying into this.
